When I was a little girl, my mother used to try to discipline me by having me stand facing a corner.
Although it kept me out of her hair, it didn’t give the desired result, for left to my own devices when stuck in a corner, I used my imagination in order to continue to play. I made up songs and stories, having no difficulty at all forming a day dream reality to wander into.

Yesterday I found myself in an emotional corner. I am a member of a site that I will be leaving. I have one friend at the site who lives in England and whose computer only seems to allow him to use the instant messenger on that site and not the regular (I refuse to name names) services provided in the Internet.
Since chats with him are always mutually beneficial, I was in a quandary as to how to fulfill my need to quit the site, yet maintain the fine friendship I had with him. We relate as sister and brother.

The thought struck that if I were a man, I wouldn’t be having the difficulties I had at that site and a light went off! I decided to become my brother’s brother!! I created an identity, and had “him” join the site so my brother and I would still be able to use the IM. All I would have to do is to keep a tab on my browser set to that site when I was online.

On thing led to another. My male identity now has two blogs! I’m a creative writer. Female writers have taken on male identities often. Now I am my brother’s sister and my brother’s brother.

What fun!! When pushed in a corner, I still play.

Matt, if you don’t let go of my arm, I will elbow your groin.

Wading through the quagmire of deception

Holding focus on the North Star

One bright light to offer direction

Bone tired and weary

Progress slow

More prodding than pacing

Cloudy nights hiding the star

The pilgrim continues on

“Lord God!” He cries out

As the rain of confusion soaks him to the skin,

“I’m lost and lonely!”

Yet on he trudges

A force not of himself lifting one foot

And then the other

Night passes and just before dawn

The sky clears to reveal the star

Twinkling brightly

And the weary traveler rejoices to realize

That progress has been made

And the solid ground of wisdom lies just ahead

Hope fills his heart

Rejuvenating his spirit

He bows his head at journey’s end

Relinquishing any claim to victory

And raising his eyes to the heavens once again

He says two words

“Thank You”

I’m IrishInjun.  I’m here to be your guide into a land of Spirit, Sunshine and Silliness. There’s too much positive energy in life to not spread some of it around, so I decided to create SMOKE SIGNALS to try to do just that.
